DYNAMIC COMPOSITION WORKSHOP | By Greg Bumatay

Where should I start, Greg Bumatay is not just an experienced wedding photographer, but he is also a very fun and great person to hang out with. I was first introduced to Greg in WPPI through Ari Simphoukham, another extremely talented photographer. Greg is a very generous and creative person, he also teaches a class on Wedding Photography at Cypress College. After eagerly waiting for sometime, Greg is finally planning on a evening class this coming Fall. Can’t wait to be inspired and taught by such a great person again.

So in this workshop, Greg went through the basics of composition, the rules of thirds and yadayada, then he went on talking about how to bend the rules and even break it to make composition more interesting. Not to give so much out here, as I do recommend if you want to know, go attend one of Greg’s workshop and listen direct from the master. The things that we should look for when composing an image, includes shadow casting, leading lines, negative space, symmetry and diagonals.

Orange County SMUG Workshop | Special Guest: Rob Ninja of Photog Shootout

SmugMug of Orange County have organized a talk with special quest Rob Ninja. Rob Ninja Nicholson is blunt, loud and funny. which sets him apart in the industry. He discussed the theory behind Self-Analysis to grow ones photography business. It opened my mind to the idea that to be a successful photographer, it has less to do with expensive equipments, time in the industry and editing skills. Personality is what he used to build the foundation of his business. He also provided lots of other great information which helped everyone who participated.

Rob created and leads the fast-growing nationwide photography group called Photog Shootout. Photog Shootout offers workshop occasionally and I will definitely participate next time.

2010-02-27 DeeLish’s Wedding | Warner Center Marriott | Woodland Hills CA

Ceremony: St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church
Reception: Warner Center Marriott, Woodland Hills CA
Photographer: Nathan Wauk, Rich, Edward Lee

I had been really looking forward to their wedding since the engagement shoot for a few reasons. First they are just the happiest couple I have ever met, and second their bridal party is huge, 38 people not including the parents. This was one of those weddings that just made everyone happy. Everyone was super nice, everything was laid-back and easy-going and the party was rocking. Thanks for having us, and I enjoyed every moment as much as you guys did.

2010-03-10 WPPI Convention and Trade Show | MGM Convention Center | Las Vegas

Finally got around to finish up editing the pictures I took in WPPI. I saw a lot of new stuff in the trade show, Nik Software is the one that impressed me the most among all the editing add-on available. This is the first time I used this software to edit the pictures, so far, it is easy to use, pretty quick and I am happy with the results. I will do a little review on the Nik Complete Collection in a week or so.

So we left Irvine at 3:30pm, and we made a gas stop in Baker, CA.

By the time we arrive Las Vegas, it was already 7pm, so registration for WPPI was closed. This is a rare scene of the convention center with not a single person.

Since it was still very early in Vegas time, anytime before 3am is early, we decided to scout out on Las Vegas Boulevard to shoot some of the amazing lights.
